When those YouTube clips broke of Karin Dreijer Andersson from the Knife and Fever Ray accepting an award at Sweden's P3 Gold awards the other week, himself turned to me wryly and said, "how long before Lady GaGa copies that, eh?" True dat. GaGa is a champion copyist, and while I often don't completely hate what she wears, God, her music is so banal and lite as to be beyond belief. C'mon love, ramp it up a little, why don't you? It really wouldn't hurt.
So, why would Gaga want to be apeing Dreijer Andersson, anyway? Oh, simple - she accepted her award wearing a scarlet version of the Diva Plavalaguna's guna (see what I did there) from the Fifth Element, mixed with an interesting dash of burns victim. A mask, made from globs of melted, flesh-coloured plastic had the P3 crowd gasping, and where others lead, GaGa follows.
To whit, she was spotted a couple of evenings ago with a phizog packed full of pearls. Was it a nod to the Fever Ray singer? Was it, perhaps, an 'ironic' take on the auld pearl necklace joke? Or *shudder* - maybe she's actually really into bukkake. DON'T Google that at work if you don't know what it is. I beg you.
