Teen Choice Awards Red Carpet: Sartorial Starlets, Plunge Necklines and Power Dressing

As ever, there were some key trends gracing last night's Teen Choice Awards arrivals red carpet. Some of them worked, some of them left us scratching our noggins. And a few brave souls tried melding a number of looks together with surprising results. For example someone - who shall remain nameless for now - merged a floral print with a power trouser AND a bra top. And it actually worked, fair play to her.

Let's start with the Plunging Necklines. Why not, it's Monday morning and we need perking up. Those opting for this dramatic look include Cat Deeley, Sarah Hyland from 'Modern Family' (I like it but I keep imagining a pair of ice skates on her feet), and Bella Thorne. If you look closely at Bella's chest (you're allowed), you'll see she's using an age appropriate cheat option, which she seems beyond happy with it and that's the main thing.

Then we had Italia Ricci who melded a plunge neckline, a jumpsuit and a print. She looks pretty damn amazing and she knows it, fair play to her.

Keeping with the jumpsuit, not all of them worked as well as the above. For example, here's Rowan Blanchard. Overall (pun unintended) a pretty look, particularly with the embellishments.

Moving swiftly on to the Power Suits. Selena Gomez nailed the look, and while we love Debbie Ryan's top, it would've looked perhaps looked better with a pencil skirt or a more fitted trew.

She makes up for that thanks to her cuff and the gold touches around her thumb.

Next up - Shorts Brigade. I was never a fan while she was on 'X Factor', but Lordy doesn't Cher Lloyds scrub up well. She looks sublime.

Also rocking shorts, this time with a slightly (ill-fitting) cropped top is Nina Dobrev.

Most of the Kardashians/Jenners assembled were advocating the cropped top.

And while I'm a fan of Kylie's ensemble, Kim looks like she's travelled back to a murky pre-Kanye/cover of Vogue time where cut 'n shut zebra skirts were all the rage in her wardrobe. Best left to a club couch in Ibiza.

Why, yes, there are a lot of crop tops - we're quite taken with Taylor Swift's offering - despite its randomness and the fact it resembles carpet swatches. Unfortunately there were no photos of her from the rear, would've loved to have seen how far the peekaboo tartan netting in her skirt went up. Taylor, ya divil.

And then there was Chloe Grace Moretz... This isn't exactly following the rules of 'boobs or legs, but never both' but she's a teenager, and can clearly wear whatever she wants and that is a boob tube with a bolero and short shorts.

Our ensemble of the night, however, goes to Jordan Sparks. Not because it's the best outfit, more because of how effortlessly she pulls off such a bold look. A bra top, a high wasted trouser and a bold print sounds like the making of a bad Madonna video, but - on Jordan - it works.

If you fancy a gander through all the looks of the night, we have 'em all for you below. What looks did you love and which gave you the sartorial heebie jeebies?
