The 3 best foundation launches of 2016

We love it when there's a new makeup launch to play with, especially if it's anything to do with foundation. Full coverage, sheer, matte, luminous - we'll try them all!

So, let's take stock and look back at three of our favourite foundation launches from this year.

cult-urban-decay-all-nighter

This caused such a storm when it was launched back in September that it became difficult to get a hold of. Thankfully things have settled down now, so if you missed out the first time round and want a full coverage, matte foundation, get yourself to an UD counter immediately!

Our beauty editor Aisling was very taken with the formula and the lasting power too. For me, though, the fact you don't have to powder the foundation at all, makes it a winner.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, but budget offerings really are getting so much better these day and Rimmel's Fresher Skin Foundation is a perfect example of that. The texture feels fresh to wear, doesn't settle in pores or lines and gives a slight dewiness that works well for day or night time.

On top of that, it's easy to apply and blends evenly into skin, giving coverage but still a natural finish. Sounds good, right? If you want to find out a bit more and see pics and swatches, check out the full review here.

If you're looking for a day to day foundation that can also protect your skin from sun damage, then this one from Lancome launched back in September could be just the ticket. The lightweight formula can be built up from a sheer to a medium finish as you wish and offers SPF 50 protection. Wear time is excellent as well and the best bit, is that once you have the compact, all you have to do is pick up refills (€25) when you run out, making this luxury foundation suddenly a whole lot more affordable.
