Way back in the mists of time my makeup collection was small. So small, in fact, that I could fit it all into one little makeup pouch. In addition to a foundation, pressed powder and concealer, I owned one lipstick, one lipgloss, one cream blush and one eye shadow.
That eye shadow was a little round pot from Bourjois, only back then they were known as Pastel Lumiere. The shade was Beige Rosé - a pretty champagne beige shade with a glowy, satin finish. Perfect for daytime wear when applied all over the lid, it was also a great highlighter when worn with darker shades (which I eventually added to my collection as it slowly started to expand).
I loved the colour, but the formula wasn't the best, as I discovered when I started to compare it to other eye shadow brands. The baked formula seemed to result in a dry, hard coating on top of the domed eye shadow and after a while, the product would feel dry and chalky when applied. So as much as I liked the colours available in the line and was often tempted to try out the shades brought out with seasonal collections, I would ultimately be disappointed with the finish and eventually I stopped buying the little round pots.

Cue last year's news that the 150 year old (yes, 150!) product was to be relaunched with a new silkier formula, however, and I knew I'd have to try it again, even if only for nostalgic reasons. It had to be Beige Rosé, of course, or 08, to give it its snappy new title. The revamped line includes 22 shades for €8.99 each, divided into helpful categories such as Illuminating, Glittery, Daring and Sculpting and as well as old favourites such as mine, you'll also find some other well-known shades on the shelf.
So how does the new version compare? Well, the colour looks just as I remember it, which is good news. And the finish? It is indeed silkier - easy to pick up with a brush without having to scratch off the surface, and it blends much more easily on the lid.
My makeup collection may be much bigger these days than it was way back when, but I may just find room in it for a few more of these little round pots!
