The intrepid Cherry recently got a chance to talk to Irish MAC maven, Susan Ryan, and she got the lowdown on all Ms Ryan's favourite products. This is what they discussed:
Being a bit of MAC freak, I was delighted to pin down Susan Ryan, Retail Operations Manager for MAC Cosmetics in Ireland, for a little beaut.ie interrogation.
I asked her to let us in on her deepest, darkest secrets (and, obviously, if she could slip a couple of freebies into my handbag):Firstly, her favourite MAC product: “my favourite beauty product in our line is Smoulder Eye Kohl. It’s the best black eye pencil in the world: jet black, super soft and gives you that sultry, smoky eyeâ€. And your must-have luxury item? “Crème de la Mer Hand Cream. Gorgeous texture and smell. Leaves a luxurious slip on your hands, even after you re-wash them.†And what about your much-loved old favourite? “Carmex Lip Balm. I discovered this in San Francisco nearly 10 years ago and have been a loyal fanatic since then. It leaves a cushiony feeling on my lips and tingles just a bit!†Any chance of spilling an expert beauty tip? “If you're doing a smoky eye look, do your eyes first, foundation second. That way you don't ruin your base with dark shadows spilling down onto the cheek.â€

And finally, is there a beauty secret you can share? “Many well known celebs have been known to contour with MAC Carbon eye shadow, which is a pure matte black colour. It has been used on fashion shoots to achieve the ultimate cheekbone!!†Blimey, might have to go and lock myself in the bathroom to practice that one before letting it loose on the world! So there you have it.
And one final question on a personal note: is MAC’s new Prep & Prime SPF 50 going to be available in Ireland (I only ask as my freckles are in severe danger of merging into one giant brown blob)? “Yes, it went on sale at the beginning of the month in all stores!†Hurrah!
