Four midi-heels under €50 to wear all summer long

I honestly couldn't be happier about shoes this season, mainly because heel heights have shrunk, so no longer have you to battle the pain of a high heel at the many summer weddings you may have been invited to.

The midi heel is everything. And I really hope it goes nowhere, so I am asking the fashion gods to please allow this one to stay. I do love a good high heel, but when it comes to standing for long periods of time, normally in summer, I would rather go barefoot. That throbbing in the balls of your feet after half an hour...oh dear.

But there is a lovely solution this year and it comes in many, many forms.

Shopping for a shoe to match an occasion dress is always a hard task, especially when you don't want something sky high. I am so impressed with New Look's accessories this year, and their range of midi heel sandals is very good. A lot of their shoes also come in a wide fitting so you don't have to try and squeeze into a teeny shoe if your feet need some extra breathing space.

However, it's not all about the sandal either; the shoe-sandal is a practical option for casual wear. Try a style like these ones from M&S with a rolled up pair of jeans, or with a midi skirt in white or cream to the office. This style gives you a lot of support if you prefer to have more shoe around your foot, but for a style like these, it's always good to break them in before wearing them barefoot to avoid blisters.

We tend to get more painful spots on our feet in summer as they heat up quicker and tend to expand. So give them a helping hand when you can.

The Gladiator sandal returns for festival season, but watch out for styles with a small block heel that look more dressy, and in my view, a lot more chic.

I like a good lace up shoe with a loose fit jean and a white shirt for a look that's fairly casual, but channels your inner fashion blogger.

But don't say bye to your ankle boots just yet. I love the look of a midi heel boot with a patterned dress or a maxi for summer. It gives us some more length and will keep a longer length dress in proportion along your body. Do wear some little socks though, the feet will be a lot more comfy then.

Do you like the midi heel trend? Or are you sworn in stiletto girl?
