Our guide to best swimwear for under €30

It's getting warmer, isn't it? Ok, maybe it's just me trying to convince myself that summer is coming, but there is a holiday in the sun looming in a few weeks, and if you also have some sun time planned it's a good time to get to the shops to get your new year swimwear.

Our warning to you: high street shops tend to stock up once on swimwear and not replenish meaning sizes can run out quickly, so even if your holiday isn't until later in the season, I advise getting your bikinis now.

To help you, I've chosen the best bits under €30.

Swimsuits are all back thanks to the decade revival we are experiencing. There is something quite pin-up about the swimsuit; watch out for styles that have shapewear built in for extra comfort. There are colours and patterns aplenty too, but I'll be sticking to monochrome which I can layer under a brightly coloured cover up.

The most popular choice, this season is all about prints. From tropical to paisley to Aztec, you will be making a statement with this year's swimwear trends. Opt for a halter neck if you need to create more shape on the bust line (it gives a  natural lift) or a style with removal straps for support, and the avoidance of tan lines. Both equally important!

You don't want to be out in the sun the whole day, so a floaty kimono or maxi dress is a good thing to have in your suitcase. If you are going for a muted colour in your swimwear, go for something more bold and bright. The opposite applies if you choose a print or a bright colour; it just makes the look more coordinated, and more like an outfit.

Or try a playsuit which you can easily pop on over your swimsuit.
