The quickest fix ever for an inconvenient spot

It comes at the worst time possible - your birthday, a big interview, your wedding day. Even though you have been working really hard at keeping to your skin care routine, suddenly, the morning of the occasion in question, you wake up with a spot big enough to deserve its own TV show.

Your skin should be your friend, not a horrible Rumpelstiltskin-like trickster. Like, you were so nice to it.  The only thing to do is get your own back on it and nip that bad boy in the bud. But how?

Here's how. Zap that zit with this tip that pros swear by.

NOTE: If you have an aspirin allergy this pro tip is not for you.

  • What you need

Take your aspirin and place it in your eggcup. The aspirin can sometimes have a protective layer of coating of it, and if it does it needs to be removed.

  • Step 2

Pour half a teaspoon of lemon oil or lemon juice on the aspirin. It should start to dissolve ever so slightly.

  • Step 3

(The fun part.) Use your teaspoon to mash it into a paste. If at this stage you need to add more lemon for it to form a paste, you can.

  • Step 4

On clean skin, apply the paste to the spot and surrounding area.  Leave it on for 10 minutes or until it starts to flake off, then wash away with tepid water.

How it Works

The main ingredient in aspirin is salicylic acid or salicylate. There are hundreds of creams, lotions, ointments, etc. on the market which contain salicylic acid made specifically to fight acne. Lemon juice contains L-ascorbic acid, a natural astringent which dries out the acne, as well as antibacterial compounds that fight acne-producing bacteria. So the combination of the two is magic!
