A lot of things about makeup can seem a bit baffling - how to keep gloss on (you can't, you just have to keep reapplying it!), why Southside girls all favour that brown face and messy hair look, and why on earth do eyeshadows so often come in a pot containing 3 shades?
Simple - the palest shade is for use as a wash all over the lid, the second darkest is for use on the crease of the eye (the dip just where the lid ends and the browbone begins) and the darkest is to be used along the lashline. Doing it in that order will give you lovely professional looking lids, and the shadows above, from Smashbox's new A/W collection are €29 each - and perfect for the job.
