Celebs Officially Endorse Double Denim: How to Wear it With Style

The Texan tuxedo used to know its place, cladding the bodies of Britney Spears (in the early Noughties) and Cliff Richard (since time began). More recently, it's been taken beyond the brink of ridiculousness by Katy Perry at the VMAs (you can see all those pics here).

Now, however, its crept into the wardrobes of those 'in the know' and it's being sported in all seriousness by all manner of celebrities. Its even being heavily featured in Milan Fashion Week. In other words, THERE IS NO ESCAPE...

Double Denim is happening, and there is ONE tenuous rule regarding how to wear it. Personally, I don't think it should ever see the light of day, but if you must indulge, this is how to do it.

You ready? It's this simple: the denim must be differing shades or textures. If you're wearing indigo jeans, then team it with a pale denim shirt - like Jessica Biel, Katie Holmes, Ashley Greene and Bar Refaeli. If you must wear the same hues, then let it be a dark denim (à la Myleene Klass), lest you resemble a member of a chain gang, like Kelly Brook, Kourtney Kardashian, or Nicky Byrne.

Sure, he looks happy, but he's no Liam Payne. Had he subtly included a slightly different shade, it would've made a world of difference. A WORLD, I tell thee. You'd be right to look well smug, Liam, cause you're pulling off the near impossible, and that's working double denim (despite his jeans being well manky). The boots help.

As for serial double denim enthusiast Rita Ora - we'll gladly overlook her onstage debacles if it means we can see her in more ensembles such as this...

Granted, she does resemble a denim clad flasher, but it's a damn sight better than the deluge of folds she's been seen hauling about in the past. Small mercies, hah?

So tell us, are you a fan of the double denim? How do you wear yours? And how much money would we have to pay you to wear Rita's jean monstrosities in the pic above?
