Believe or not, the E4 drama series about angst-ridden teenagers – some of whom you wanted to be while others you were grateful you weren’t anything like – living in Bristol is today celebrating its 10th anniversary.
It’s pretty obvs, though, that the first cast (they were replaced by a new group of teenagers every two years) was definitely the best and, apart from exceptions like Kaya Scodelario and Jack O’Connell, have the most recognisable actors.
Still, there are significant variations in what each cast member of that first generation went on to do.
Here’s what each of them are up to now:

Tony Stonem (Nicholas Hoult)
The leader of the group was Tony, played by Nicholas Hoult, who you will probably recognise from one of many credits he’s had since the show including Warm Bodies, Mad Max: Fury Road, and the X-Men reboot movies. Hoult shows no sign of slowing down anytime soon, with his upcoming projects including The Current War, in which he plays Nikola Tesla and stars alongside Benedict Cumberbatch, and Rebel in the Rye, in which he plays renowned author J.D. Salinger.

Michelle Richardson (April Pearson)
Michelle Richardson, who played Tony’s girlfriend, Michelle, has also stuck to acting. Aside from a recurring role in Casualty, she’s been doing mostly UK productions such as comedy horror flick Tormented and British action film Age of Kill. Many of her credits are shorts, although she also starred in the music video for The Wombats' single "Greek Tragedy". She’s currently performing in Threesome at The Union Theatre in London.

Sid Jenkins (Mike Bailey)
Ah, who can forget poor aul Sid, the shy, awkward fella who was inexplicably besties with Tony and sweetly in love with Cassie? Since Skins, Mike Bailey has appeared in Channel 4 drama 1066: The Battle for Middle Earth as Tofi, and teen comedy We Are the Freaks. He stars in a new web series called Hers and History in which a couple decides to open up about their sexual history.

Cassie Ainsworth (Hannah Murray)

The eccentric, dainty and beautiful Cassie was brought to life by Hannah Murray. Though she has had small roles in films like Dark Shadows and even In Bruges, her biggest project to date has undoubtedly been Game of Thrones, in which she plays Gilly, a wildling girl who is the daughter and wife of Craster. In the sixth season finale, she was brought to the Citadel in Oldtown, so that’s where we’ll see her next we reckon.

Chris Miles (Joe Dempsie)
Chris was the ‘party’ animal of the gang and like Murray, his biggest project to date has been as a regular on Game of Thrones. He plays Gendry, one of King Robert Baratheon’s bastard sons, and is reportedly returning for the final season of the show. Mind you, he’s had plenty of gigs in between as well including being the voice of Clearasil ads in the UK, This is England '86, '88 and '90, BBC doc Born and Bred, The Fads, and Monsters: Dark Continent.

Jal Fazer (Larissa Wilson)
Larissa Wilson played Jal, a musician who plays the clarinet and provided one of the most dramatic storylines in season 2 when she became pregnant and decided to have an abortion. Since Skins, Wilson starred alongside Richardson in Tormented, and has done mostly TV work in series like Holby City, The Sparticle Mystery, Trollied, Suspects and The Town. She’s been pretty quiet since 2014.

Maxxie Oliver (Mitch Hewer)
Mitch was the show’s first openly gay character, with a dream of pursuing a dance career. Since wrapping up on the role, Mitch Hewer also starred in Britannia High as the all-round talent Danny Miller, and was in the Take That musical Never Forget in 2009. In 2014, he appeared as Ben in Nightlight and as Steven Stevens in Behaving Badly but has no other credits to date.

Anwar Kharral (Dev Patel)
Dev Patel’s character Anwar Kharral, a Muslim boy with a domineering family, probably got the least screen time on the show, but you can’t deny that he’s had the most success since. With major credits to his name including The Last Airbender, Chappie, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and its sequel, and of course Slumdog Millionaire, the actor is a multi-award winner and, as of this week, an official Academy Award nominee for his role as Saroo Brierley in Lion.
