Electric Picnic 2016: style highlights from the last weekend of summer

Electric Picnic 2016 has come and gone, but we'll always have the memories

Most of us thought it would never happen, but denim shorts were in low supply at Electric Picnic 2016. Maybe people were trying to stay away from basic festival gal fashion, or it was just too cold and rainy.

Harem pants seem to be the replacement. They keep you covered when it’s warm but they're light in the heat making them perfect for the laid back look. Stick to patterned ones if you want to get away with the odd spot of mud (which was pretty unavoidable this year).

If you do go for the patterned look, keep your top plain and simple to avoid any clashing. The same goes for your shoes - any will do, just keep them plain.

Standing in the queue for the ladies, anyone could spot that Dutch pigtails were everywhere this year. Practical and pretty, they keep your hair out your eyes when you’re dancing and the knots at bay. You can see why they are so popular, but the only problem is a lot of people are doing the same thing. Kudos to people who stood out from the crowd by adding glitter to their partings (also a handy way to cover up those greasy roots) or those mixing it up with something different.

Lace up tops/dresses were also a hit. It’s a daring look, but if you can pull it off then go for it. It’s not the most practical for a festival, though, as it gets a bit chilly at night. Don’t forget a jacket or keep it for the daytime.

Will we see the look at next year’s EP? Maybe not, they’re not a festival must-have so get your use out of them while you can.

90s chicks will be pleased to hear that chokers are here to stay: they go with pretty much any festival outfit and you can leave them on for the whole weekend (even if it is a bit gross).

Would it really be a festival without flower head crowns? They’re noticeably not as popular as they used to be, but the Snapchat filter seems to have kept them somewhat alive. Again, the weather could have just put people off them this year - they’re not great at keeping off the rain - so don’t go throwing out your collection just yet.
