When worn right, sheer is the perfect mix of daring and classy, and there is no better choice of examples than at this year's Oscars night.
Whether it was on the red carpet or at the Vanity Fair afters, sheer was definitely the theme of the evening with our favourite stars from Salma Hayek to Nina Dobrev. What's so great about sheer is that it's so versatile – you can use it with a more traditional gown like Ruth Negga or change it up completely with a plunge neck like Thandie Newton or Kate Hudson.
A special mention has to go to Hailee Steinfeld who wore it twice in the same night and owned it both times. Her wedding dress inspired train is the stuff of dreams.
