Wooo woooo!Bangers have been going off since July, fireworks have been lighting up the clouds for weeks. A fever pitch of excitement has been whipped up in every kid residing in the green and pleasant land. Oh how times have changed since my childhood Halloweens. In Halloweens of yore
- black plastic sacks were about the height of costume design
- we went round the houses with a little band of mates, unfettered by our parents hovering at the bottom of every driveway
- we thought lanterns made out of turnips were bleedin deadly. Were there even pumpkins then?
- we counted ourselves lucky to find a few boiled sweets in our plastic bags amongst all the loose popcorn and monkey nuts
- seeing a firework rendered us speechless with awe
