Circus ImMortal is the name of the tour currently being run by the circus company NoFitState. But trust me; every single person in this extravaganza is well fit!
When I mentioned I had won the tickets to my sister, she of course was more than delighted to have a free night out, and I have to say it was defiantly one of the best nights I have had in months. This is no ordinary circus. No kids, no animals, no clowns and certainly no dodgy ringmaster. We realised as soon as we entered the Big Top that this was not going to an ordinary show. There is no seating but this draws you into the performances as the troupe of expert acrobats, dancers and gymnasts perform around, above and throughout the crowd. We became part of the performance.

Circus ImMortaI can only be described as a truly interactive spectacle. The show is contemporary, kitsch, electrifying and at times has a certain sexual charge. Think Cirque du Soleil and imagine Circus ImMortal as its darker, edgier and bolder sister. The skill and talent of the performers is amazing, whether it be simply playing with Hula Hoops, 1940’s bathers swimming mid air suspended by silks from the ceiling or acrobats darting in and out of the crowd and swoop from the ceiling out of darkness. The performance gracefully fuses circus, music, dance, theatre and audiovisual.
I have never seen anything like this before. I can only describe it as more of an experience than a show. My sister described the whole thing as ‘the coolest thing ever’ as we were both left slack jawed for most of the night. At times we did not know what to watch there was so much going on. It was a fabulous assault on the senses. This circus certainly has the wow factor.
The Mission of the NoFit State Company is ‘to be the circus everyone wants to join’ and as we left the big top, like the two big kids we are, we were both mad to jack it all in and run off with the circus!"
