Refresh your foundation in a jiffy to take it from day to night with this handy little tip.

Sometimes all you need to feel human after a long day at work is to refresh your foundation. Of course, you could reapply it... but that takes time and effort. And y'know, when wine-o'clock comes a calling, you have to answer. So in situations when time is tight (or you can't be arsed) a quick fix is what's needed.

One of the quickest and easiest ways to refresh your foundation is with a facial mist. There are lots on the market to suit different budgets, but we really love the REN Flash Defense Anti-Pollution Mist (€32 via Cloud10beauty.com). The refreshing mist contains anti-oxidants as well as anti-fatigue technology (which wakes up your skin nicely). Simply give your skin a good spritz. And then either with a sponge or brush, buff your base and voila, it'll be looking a whole lot fresher in no time.

Another good skin pick-me-up spritz is the PIXI Vitamin Wake Up Mist (€22 in Marks & Spencer). The zingy orange blossom and fruit extracts in this help put a pep in your step coming morning (or evening).

And our desk buddy all summer long was Elizabeth Arden's Eight Hour Miracle Hydrating Mist. It's €25 (in Debenhams) but worth the price. We spritzed it multiple times a day for months, our faces felt hydrated, our makeup looked better and we still have a little bit left!

Coming into the colder months, we can expect our skin start looking a little ropey by the end of the day thanks to central heating. Sure as soon as it gets put on, it tends to suck all the moisture out of our skin by 11 am. Thankfully, facial mists aren't only good for refreshing your makeup, but also rehydrating skin. So buddy up with one to help keep dehydration at bay, as well as your base, looking ace.
