The three best primers for dry, oily and normal skin

Primers are important but wear the wrong one for your skin type, and it won't make a difference

When people ask me about how to achieve flawless and perfect long lasting foundation my answer is always the same. The golden combination of a good primer, a good foundation and a setting powder when applied properly will stay put all day. But obviously, choosing each product for your specific skin needs is important.

Luckily, finding a primer that is right for your skin needs is fairly straightforward. If you have dry skin, you will need a hydrating one. If you are oily you will need a mattifying one and so on, you get the gist.

I have been doing my research as usual and have narrowed down three primer favourites for dry, oily and normal skin types.

For Dry Skin

Urban Decay Drop Shot Mix-In Facial Oil €31

This lightweight fluid facial oil is perfect for those with a dry skin type. The antioxidants boost elastin and plump out the skin to produce a gorgeous natural but underlying radiance and glow. It's hydrating but not sticky and provides a perfectly smooth canvas for your flawless foundation to glide on.

For Oily Skin

Fenty Beauty Soft Matte Primer €24

For oily skin types, this primer is the one to go for. The mattifying texture is exactly what you need to reduce the oil on your skin from beneath your foundation and powder. The light fluid won't dry out your skin either but more create a powder like and blurred effect on the skin providing a perfect base for your foundation to adhere.

For Normal Skin

Huda Beauty Complexion Perfection €30

This base, although for normal skin types, is hydrating and smoothing. The luxurious product creates a gripping effect on your skin and provides the perfect surface for your foundation to be applied smoothly and last the test of time. The primer will softly blur your fine lines and minimize open pores. It's the perfect step one to your three-part system of being flawless.
