Frownies: The Stick-On Line Treatment (Yes. Really)

frownies

Looking like triangular shaped reject cutouts from the rolls of brown paper that schoolbooks used to be wrapped in, Frownies, €19.69, piqued my interest during a recent arse around the Feel Unique* website. They're facial pads made from unbleached paper and a vegetable-based adhesive, and the idea is that you stick them on offending lines and wrinkles on your forehead and between your eyebrows.

And, er, that's it. Apparently Frownies have been "Hollywood's beauty secret for over 100 years!" and it doesn't look like they've had too much tweaking in the course of that century.

The blurb sez that wearing Frownies will gently train the underlying facial muscles to relax, getting rid of even deep expression lines in the process. Presumably, they're intended for nighttime use - although they are camel, this season's new black, so who knows - when skin would be at its most relaxed anyway. And assuming you decide not to accessorize with them for AW10, they aren't going to be able to do much to prevent new lines from forming during the day when you grimace at the latest credit card bill or scowl at your boss while their back's turned.

I sez: save your almost twenty quid and put it towards something nice that'll help to alleviate frown lines by virtue of its loveliness. And sure if you must try a mechanical line sorter-outer, just cut the sticky flap off a brown envelope and whack it on your forehead instead!
