Hot or Not: Pedicure Boots and Socks

pedi boots

Getting a pedicure at this time of year is a tricksy business. Even if the precipitation holds off and you manage to get in and out of the salon without being rained, hailed or snowed on, the about-zero temperatures and wintertime wind chill mean that exposing your feet in the requisite pedi-friendly, open-toe sandals is a seriously unappealing prospect.

So what's a girl in need of a pre-Christmas foot overhaul to do?

Well, you could always opt to wear specialist pedicure boots or socks in place of flip-flops. The idea is that you pop these delightful accessories on your feet prior to having your nails painted and they'll ensure that your extremities remain nice 'n' toasty while the cut-out portion means nails stay exposed and, therefore, smudge-free.

There's just one teeny tiny minor hitch with the genius that is the pedicure boot or sock, and that's the fact that someone might see you wearing said items and walk out under a bus while momentarily rendered blind by the hack of them.

If concern for the safety of your fellow man is low on your list of priorities, you can buy in a pair of pedicure boots from the States for as little (ehem) as $68 plus shipping, while OPI do a Fabulous Feet gift set consisting of pink and green striped pedicure socks and a bottle of OPI Nail Envy for about 20 Eurobux (check here for OPI stockists.) Alternatively, why not go the DIY route by cutting the toe portion out of an old pair of cheapie UGG-alike boots or while away the long winter evenings by knitting your own pedicure socks!

They might keep your feet warm, but would you be caught under a bus in any sort of pedicure paraphernalia?
