Trick Malavey: my favourite Irish slang

"He's a right trick malavey" said my mother in law.  "Jesus you wouldn't be safe around him."

"What the hell is a trick malavey?!" I said.

"A Sleaze" said her son, grinning.  "A medallion man.  Someone with his shirt unbuttoned  to show off his rug and show the ladies what could be theirs.  He'll have his Merc parked outside the smoking area and more gold bracelets than a branch of Reids."

And indeed as we looked at yer man chatting up a much younger girl in the pub, the whole essence of his being was summed up in that one term: trick malavey.

Classic Dublin slang, Mother in Law has lots of choice phrases like that, that always make me crack up.  What's your favourite Irish slang - make us laugh!
