The feeding tube diet is freakishly horrible

The feeding tube diet is freakishly horrible

Desperate to lose weight quickly before an important event - say your wedding?  Well then here's diet you'll be longing to try.

In a particularly gruesome twist on the normal crash diet, people are actually opting to be fed from a tube from their nose that drips into their stomach for ten days.  A combination of liquid, proteins and  fat totals 800 calories a day and burns off body fat by sending the body into ketosis (remember our old friend the Atkins Diet?  This is how that one worked too.)  You don't feel hungry at all apparently and the prospect of losing ten pounds means (some) women are willing to give it a try.

Also known as the KEN (or ketogenic enteral nutrition) in the UK and K-E in the States, you'll need to get a doctor to hook you up and you'll have to carry your bag of slime around with you for the ten days, with the tube in your nose.  It'll set you back over a grand.

As far as I know no doctors in Ireland offer this disgusting treatment yet - but that will change if they see a demand for it I'm sure and the prospect of revenue.

What do you think?  Would you ever be desperate enough to try this?
