Beaut.ie Blather: Tuesday

Rick O'Shea , once again you've given me pause for thought! I heard you yesterday talking about magic roads. Well I was dying to ring in, but I was driving at the time.

When Kirstie and I were little, our Auntie Bronagh - or AB as we called her - in Hilltown (deep in the Mourne Mountains), used to take us to the S of Spelga. Every year we would beg and nag incessantly until she agreed and we would speed off in her Mini to the magic road. It was always a Mini you see, she got a new one every year. We'd drive down the hill, she'd turn off the engine and take off the handbrake. And sure as anything the car would be pulled backwards up the hill.
