Smell is managed by the same part of the brain that also triggers gut instinct, raw emotion and memory. And this is why scent is able to trigger memories in a really vivid way, more than pictures or sound ever could.
For example, if you choose a perfume for your wedding day that is new to you, you can create a timeless ‘memory trigger’ so that whenever you smell that fragrance, it will always invoke memories from that day.
Better yet, how about investing time in creating your OWN perfume that will be unique to you?
The first of its kind in Ireland, PerfumeNotes.ie is hosting a one-day perfume-making event where you will learn about what goes into perfumes and you'll make your own scent to take home and cherish!
You will be taught by London indie-perfumer Sarah McCartney whose perfume brand “4160 Tuesdays” is an award-winning microperfumery that is currently available in exclusive stores such as Fortnum & Mason and Fenwicks.
According to Jo Fairley of the Perfume Society, Sarah is “an incredibly gifted and entirely off-the-wall self-taught perfumer”.

And if you're wondering about the name '4160 Tuesdays', Sarah McCartney explains “If we live until we're 80, we have 4160 Tuesdays. So on a Tuesday, do something different. At the moment, we're using ours to make perfume”.
We like the way she thinks.
