Win gig tickets to Placido Domingo at the 3Arena

World famous tenor Placido Domingo is set for a rare performance at the 3Arena on Saturday January 17th, with Ireland's newest opera star, mezzo soprano Rachel Kelly to join already confirmed opera superstars Angel Blue and Micaela Oeste who will be accompanied by the RTE Concert Orchestra.

Maestro Domingo's last performance in Ireland was in March 2004 and his return has been most welcomed. He is recognised, not only as one of the finest and most influential singing actors in the history of opera, but also as a respected conductor. He will turn seventy-four this month , but his gifts and energy remain undiminished. Domingo's vocal repertoire encompasses 145 stage roles – a number unmatched by any other celebrated opera singer in history.

In 1990, Domingo and his colleagues José Carreras and the late Luciano Pavarotti spontaneously formed the Three Tenors, which then performed from time to time with enormous success all over the world and attracted many new fans to opera. As of 2015, Domingo has been singing leading roles for 54 years in more than 3,800 performances – 700 of them at the Met alone! But there are no signs of slowing down: his preliminary schedule from July 2014 through June 2015 includes 47 performances in seven leading opera roles, five in the zarzuela Luisa Fernanda, 13 in concerts, and four conducting appearances – all of this in 17 different cities in 13 countries on four continents. And he continues to carry out multiple duties as General Director of Los Angeles Opera and the driving force behind Operalia.

Placido Domingo's show at Dublin's 3Arena will feature operatic classics, popular arias, Latin and Theatrical greats. This is a unique opportunity to see such a legendary artist in one of Europe's best concert venues. A show not to be missed!
