Beaut.ie Bootcamp: Health, Fitness & Lots of Lyrca at Wellfest

After a wonderful Saturday spent at Wellfest in Herbert Park, I thought I’d share my first experience at such a festival with you.

Wellfest was a one day festival in Herbert Park offering a huge range of Health and Fitness activities. It had a little bit of everything for everybody. Think of Electric Picnic but with Lycra and Nikes instead of wellies and alcohol!  It was a day to inspire people to keep fit and highlighted the link between a strong body and a strong mind.

I arrived at 2 pm as I had clients until lunch-time but with such a big line up there was still lots for me to enjoy and some sessions were repeated through the day to give people a chance to see everything. It was great to see the Irish fitness industry sharing their passion with fellow fitness lovers, from Strength Training, TRX, Yoga and Spinning to talks about nutrition and mental health. I heard Bressie was fab!  Like-minded, lycra loving ladies and gents joined together and had the opportunity to try something they may not have tried before. Let’s face it, it’s not every day you get to do an Animal Flow or Acro yoga class.

There was a great selection of fit food from Kinara, Glenisk, Punnet Health, Sprout and lots more. Nom! Kinara is my favourite restaurant in Dublin so I had to get my lunch there, and it was worth the queue. Fitness folk are coffee fuelled so it seems, the queue was enormous for the entire day, a friend queued for 40 mins to get her fix.

I think this day was a great success and we need more of it; let’s hope it becomes a frequent event. Luckily we don’t have to wait for another year to get out there and try new things. I like to mix up my fitness life and at the weekend I’m always up to something different with friends. There is so much to do in our beautiful country, so make the time to get out and enjoy it.

I love the outdoors and as long as I have my rain gear I’m up for almost anything! This summer my weekends included camping, surfing, sup boarding, beach walks, and just hanging out in the park. Organise a picnic or stop off somewhere for lunch to make a day of it! I’m off to climb a mountain in Carlingford this weekend with a group of friends.

Why don’t you challenge yourself this weekend and try something new?

Until next week,

Fi x
