Pantone release a new colour shade to honour the Prince of Purple

You know you've made it when you have a colour named after you.

Unfortunately Prince isn't around to witness the honour, but nonetheless, his estate has partnered with the Pantone Color Institute to create a specific shade of purple dubbed 'Love Symbol #2' in his honour.

The colour will be used going forward on all Prince-related items authorised by the estate and it was inspired by the shade of his custom-made Yamaha purple piano (below), which he intended to bring out on tour before he passed away in April 2016.

A spokesperson from his estate said: "The colour purple was synonymous with who Prince was and will always be. This is an incredible way for his legacy to live on forever".
