They say that smell is the sense that is most closely linked to memory. But I'd make a pretty good argument for hearing.

You know how you can hear a song and it brings you straight back to a place or person? I can pretty much trace my life through a music stave - the first song I rewound on my walkman to learn the lyrics of (and create an, eh, amazing accompanying dance to) was the Bangles' Eternal Flame, the first single I bought (on tape, natch) was Lenny Kravitz's Believe, Metallica's Nothing Else Matters reminds me of my first boyfriend and anything by Steps/S Club Seven/Oasis brings me right back to naughty noughties nightclubs (try saying that after two Bacardi Breezers).

And I am guilty of playing a song to death. Yes, I'm that person. Every Summer has a song that I will put on repeat until it is musically mangled, but this means that it will be seared into my head as the song of that Summer.

From the Summer of 1999 and Lou Bega's Mambo No. 5 (don't judge me) to the sunny days of 2013 with Get Lucky (Daft Punk version, not Linda Martin's) and the Blurred Lines of Robin Thicke (yes he gives us the heebie jeebies but it's a catchy tune), every Summer has a sound.

This year I seem to have fallen into a melodic loop with Milky Chance's Stolen Dance. It's is on rhapsody rotation in my head. In fact, I'm humming it right now much to annoyance of my colleagues….

So tell us, what is your favourite Summer song? What reminds you of sunshine and long evenings? Is John Legend's ode to Chrissy going to be the warbling watermark on your Summer 2014? Or do you have a classic that just can't be beaten? Share with us in the comments! *ambles off humming and breaks into a little boogie*
