Menthol cigarettes to be banned in Ireland

Ment(h)al, innit? (Sorry).

New regulations from the European Commission that go into force today will prohibit the sale of tobacco with 'characterising flavours' in a move to combat the appeal of tobacco products, especially to young people.

But for those of you worried about their precious menthol cigarettes, you have slightly longer to mourn the loss/wean yourself off them as flavoured products like menthol with an overall market share of more than 3 per cent will remain available until 2020, and will be phased out until then.

So if you're in a panic, now may be the time to buy in bulk. Or just quit, it's better for you.
