Commenty Central: Best of the Week on Beaut.ie

From sunburn and hangovers on Monday, to planning to sunbathe and, errrmm, start drinking again on Friday, many matters dear to our hearts were discussed on the Blather, in posts and the Forums this week.

On Wednesday you were comparing the strange and just plain stupid things that beauty therapists say sometimes (what Pacifically would you like, anyone?).

Prudence quoted the following blooper from a hairdresser who clearly watched more TV than she read “bukes”: “Discussion about what was on TV the night before. I said to hairdresser, ‘And poor Anne Boleyn lost the head again last night.’ And she said, ‘Oh yes, that was terrible, I must say, I didn’t really think it would come to that.”

I’d wager she couldn’t tell you what happens in the end of Titanic either, Prudence.

Jenlala had a radical new detox tip for us, imparted by a clearly highly qualified expert in the field. “Whilst having my legs waxed the conversation drifted to detoxing (just after Christmas) and I was “advised” that “drinking vodka and coke washes the nicotine off yer lungs” - I still pray that she was joking.”

I dunno, Jenlala, I’m praying that she was right!

While chatting about botched plastic surgery on Friday, of which there are thankfully many, many celeb examples to keep us going, SJP’s Missing Mole reckoned that Christina Aguilera’s mammaries might not be the ones the good Lord gave her.

“Christina Aguilera’s boob job isn’t great either. You could drive a truck through the middle of her chest and not hit boob on either side. They look like this: @——-@”

Good thing she’s not really a genie in a bottle these days – she’d never squeeze out with those yokes attached to her, wha’?

But if Commenty Central was a competition (of course, it’s not, because we’re way too fair for that), it’d be a Blankety Blank chequebook and pen to Roisin (aka Roisin Dubh) for Comment of the Week:

“Howiyiz!  Am in bed breast feeding twin baby girls simultaneously using the football hold I think you call it. Is this a blather first?”

It certainly was, Roisín! And sure we were all delighted to be joined by you, Priya and Joya on Thursday.

So hopefully you’re all currently out enjoying the last of another sunny weekend, and gearing up for another week of nattering, starting tomorrow … see you on the Blather!
