Scrub up: Biotherm Lait de Gommage

biotherm

As this is fake tan season and we've been rating, slating and hmm hawwing about sunless tanners to beat the band, we really should mention something pretty important about the whole process: preparation.

A decent body scrub and a good moisturiser will help you achieve the ultimate at-home result, but scrubs - like tan - can be really hit and miss.

Ideally you need something that's scrubby, but not too scrubby. It should also be emollient but not so slippy it runs down the plughole without slouging off a single dead skincell, and lastly, your skin should feel different when you're out of the shower and dried off: soft and smooth.

Biotherm's Lait de Gommage, €27, is absolutely top notch for tanning. It's nicely scrubby and sloughy, easy to use and non-greasy. It rubs on well, transfers to a milk for easy massage and genuinely leaves rough skin a lot smoother. It also smells deliciously of oranges, another big plus. Pricey I know, so not for everyday - I'd save this for extra special tan applications, like Holliers and Evints.

You'll bag this at Debenhams nationwide.
