Perfect Custom Palettes from Bobbi Brown

bobbi brown palette system

I don't think a few of you ever got over not getting your paws on Stonewashed Nudes, Bobbi Brown's hugely successful limited edition shadow palette from last Autumn. I blogged about an alternative recently, her Nude Lip & Eye Palette, but some beaut.ies weren't that impressed, reckoning that the shades were all just a bit too similar.

So the naysayers might well be interested in this: Bobbi Brown has re-thought her entire palette concept, and shortly appearing on counter is her new Custom Palette system. You start by buying an empty quad or trio compact in her signature black gloss, complete with generous mirror. It's missing something though - colour. And that's where the real beauty lies, because you pick what you like and what you know suits you, as opposed to buying a palette that's packed full of colours you'd never wear.

You snap the shades into the palette, and you're good to go. I got mine as a preview a while ago and it almost immediately became indispensible. A BB makeup artist selected the shades that were right for me, and so I have 2 pink blushes (matte for day and subtle sparkle for night), as well as 2 shadow shades - bone for use all over lids, and a soft grey shimmer for contouring. But you could choose whatever you liked - if you wanted to recreate Stonewashed Nudes, you could go for 4 shadow shades in varying browns. That's the beauty of the system, and because the shadows snap into the palette, they're easy to swap in and out too, plus they're a really generous size.

All-in-all, a large thumbs up. And price? The quad palette is €15, and shadow and blush individuals are between €22 and €26 each. Now all you have to do is wait a week or so till they debut!
