This gross sounding eye treatment is weird - but it works

Would you put snail slime on your face in the name of beauty? We would, and we did, and it was actually pretty nice.

You might think that this is a pretty gross sounding eye treatment but snail slime is rich in proteins, hyaluronic acid and antioxidants, which means it's got a lot of the good stuff our skin loves. We are always harping on about hyaluronic acid because it's a wonder ingredient for our skin. It is naturally occurring in our bodies, and it's what keeps our skin plump and youthful. Once you hit the age of 20, your hyaluronic acid production rapidly decreases, and that's one of the main reasons we start to notice our skin ageing and lines appearing.

This eye mask  - the Gold and Snail Hydrogel Eye Patch from Petitfee - contains both snail slime and 24-carat gold extract (sounds a bit more appealing, right?). They are like two yin and yang shaped gel patches that you apply underneath your eyes.  If you want to see a visible improvement, get it as close to your lower lash line as possible. Wear the patches for 20 - 30 minutes. I had to lie my head back a little to keep them in place for a few minutes. Then as the liquid absorbs into your skin, they will sit in place while you move around.

The result

The gold extract leaves a sort of highlighted glow under your eyes and brightens the area. The hyaluronic acid does its job and plumps out the skin to reduce the look of those creases under your eyes. I always find this type of mask make my eyes look a bit tired and just-out-of-bed immediately after, but you see the improvement after about half an hour.

By the way, these are cruelty-free, no snails are hurt in the making. Snail secretion is simply collected and bottled for us to gain their hydrating benefits.

All in all, I like this treatment. Do you think you could get past knowing there is actual snail slime sitting on your face to wear this mask?
