A Whole New World: Disney are Making a Prequel to Aladdin

In a move that may confirm that we've run out of ideas for new movies, it seems that Disney are planning on making a prequel to Aladdin.

Not only that, they're going to abandon the cartoon format and make a live-action movie, which is going to be called Genies. The plot will look at the genie who was trapped in the lamp that was eventually freed by Aladdin, and the script is being put together by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift.

Producer Tripp Vinson, who most recently brought us San Andreas, is on board the project too, and this live-action thing seems to be a trend that Disney are going for with a lot of their previous animated hits, like this year's Cinderella with Lily James. They are also believed to be working on versions of Pinocchio, Winnie the Pooh, Mulan and Dumbo!

Do you think we need a prequel to Aladdin? Is there any movie - animated or otherwise - that you would love to see a prequel or sequel of?
