Give The Three Fingers to Breast Cancer and #FeelYourSelfie

There's no other way to say this, Ladies - feel yourself! Or rather, #FeelYourSelfie

Breast Cancer Ireland have launched a new campaign that we are totally, fully one hundred per cent behind. The aim is to encourage women to check themselves regularly using the three finger self-examination technique and to spread awareness of positive outcomes of early diagnosis of breast cancer.

Familiar Irish faces including, Norah Casey, Emma Hannigan, Roz Purcell, Sinead Desmond, Lynn Kelly, Vivienne Connolly and Cathy O’Connor are asking women to give breast cancer The Three Fingers.

You can monitor your own body yourself, it's all about keeping in tune with yourself. As Vivienne Connolly puts it,

You don’t need to be a doctor to self-examine. We all know our own bodies, better than anyone else does, and should be able to spot changes that might need attention

Commenting on the campaign, leading breast surgeon and Chairman of Breast Cancer Ireland Professor Arnie Hill says,

The good news is that survival rates in Ireland have improved to 78-80% and so our goal at Breast Cancer Ireland is through research to transform Breast Cancer from often being a fatal disease to a treatable illness long term.

There is no need to be shy about feeling your breasts. Getting used to it and normalising it could save lives! Breast Cancer Ireland have developed a handy free app “Breast Aware” that sends a discreet monthly reminder to your phone and offers a simulated video guide on how to #FeelYourSelfie so hopefully, soon, everyone will be in on it.
