The Leaving Cert Has Changed. Changed Utterly.

The Leaving Cert. is set to reduce the possible number of grades from the current 14, to just 8.

The grades will range from one to eight, with Higher 1 - 7 earning a pass, while Ordinary 1 - 6 will do the same. The extra passing grade at higher level gives students the incentive to attempt the tougher paper, as a score of 30% - 40% will now earn you a pass in Higher Level only.

Here's the breakdown of the new scoring system, which will come into practice in 2017, so it applies to students entering fifth year this month.

And here's the accompanying CAO points to go along with those scores.
