Beauty Klaxon: The mineral foundation that full coverage fans will love

Finding the perfect foundation can ofter be quite a challenge. So when I do, I just want to shout it from the rooftop.

Foundation is ofter a very personal thing. Do you like full, light or medium coverage? Is your perfect finish to be matte, satin, semi-matte or dewy? Most importantly, what type of skin do you have?

Recently, I have been on a makeup ban for the last six months (more about why in the coming weeks). Obviously, during that time on occasion, I have needed to wear makeup, like for the Beaut awards, oh, and the eight weddings I've attended this year.

Having gone through all the hard work with my skin, I couldn't risk ruining it. So finding a foundation that was both full in coverage (which I like but also needed most of the time because of the procedures I had done) and non-comedogenic (because I couldn't risk wearing anything that would effect my raw skin) was quite tough, to say the least.

I spent time researching mineral makeup. I know legally a brand can market a foundation as "mineral" once it has 0.001% mineral product in it; out of all the mineral makeup out there, I only found that two brands were pure mineral.

I was sceptical at first when I tried Jane Iredale's Pure Pressed Base. I really didn't think a mineral foundation would have the coverage I was used to (my long-time go-to has been the high coverage Mac Studio-Fix).  Having tried other "mineral" foundations in the past, I always hated how shiny they made my skin look after a while.

The Results

I have to say; I was hugely impressed with this foundation. It was so weightless and just glided on my skin. Even though it is lightweight, I could build up the coverage to as full as I usually wear. After a while, the product worked with my skin oils and turned slightly satin in finish, but not shimmery or oily at all.

Now when I wear it, it just looks like I have really great skin, not like I'm wearing foundation. A sure sign you have found the right one for you.

I'm converted to mineral foundation now. I just don't think I'll be going back.
