Which 'Essential' Beauty or Skin Care Step Have You Been *Gasp* Skipping?

In the past few months I have really upped my skin care game. In the not so distant past all I would do in the morning would splash some water on my face and dab on a bit of moisturiser. Because I have such horrid skin which has stayed horrid no matter what I put on it (or into it) I figured there was no point in even trying.

But there is dammit! The difference in my current regime is that I am not trying to fix flaws, I'm trying to prevent any further skin disasters. You know, horror shows like fine lines and the like.

So at the moment I'm cleansing, toning, moisturising, seruming, SPF 50-ing and eye-creaming - at that's just in the morning. I've designed a different regime for night time that contains not one, or two but three eye products. Watch out Halle Berry and Charlize Theron, there's to be a new immortal in town!

Have you spotted the step I've omitted? Yes. Priming.

I used to count primer as make up rather than skin care and I would never put my foundation on without it. I loved the Smashbox original and really, really thought it made a difference and filled in the gaping holes in my face. Since then I've moved onto Benefit's PoreFessional (who hasn't!) and until recently I gave Dermalogica's Redness Relief primer a try but honestly, I think I've been fooling myself. I don't think primer works. There, I've said it! It was a placebo effect all along.

The other reason I used primer was to help my foundation hold on for longer but now I use a fixing spray (NYX is my guy) and it works much better for me. I am working on filling in the face craters in different ways. Mysterious ways. Black magic might be involved.

So, anyway, is there any step you skip in your beauty or skin care regime? Maybe you never wear mascara? Perhaps serum's not for you? Do share, this might get interesing!
