Urban Decay Naked Palette - Your Verdict

urban decay naked palette

The dogs on the street are talking about this particular bit of beauty booty, so pervasive has it been across the blogosphere.  Of course, it's Urban Decay's Naked palette and I was kinda with Public Enemy on the whole hype thing, to be honest. Could it really be that good or was the love merely spreading virus-like across beauty blogs with no one wanting or willing to dissent from majority opinion?

So I got me one (by the way Urban Decay if you're reading, please put your new PR firm in touch! Your Irish fans love you and deserve to know what's happening with the brand) at Liffey Valley Boots last week, which was oddly doing a three-for-two on 'em (don't they realise what a big deal this palette is!?). I got the trio - sure it'd have been rude not to.

And you know what I thought when I opened this up? This is Bobbi Brown for young'uns. This is the reason so many went so bonkers for it I reckon - because it's packed full of lovely taupes, flattering creamy shades and shimmery browns. These sort of colours and formulations are gorgeous, easy to wear - and ultimately epiphany-making in beauty terms if you all of a sudden 'get' them.

This is why us older girls love Bobbi Brown, Becca and Laura Mercier - cos it's all stuff that you can actually wear and not be terrified by; shades that flatter skin as opposed to merely colouring it in. Me? Well, I already know about The Amazing Flattering Power of Neutrals, so I'm less blown away by the revelation that they can be extremely gorgeous things to own.

The upshot is that this is indeed a nice piece of kit to own. You get 12 lovely shades in good colours and differing textures as well as a mini Urban Decay Primer Potion and a double-ended 24/7 liner in brown and black - pretty much all you need for daytime and subtle smokey eyes for night.

It's not rocket science, this. It's all been done before but you'll use it for definite. Pricey enough at €36, I want to know if any of you lot have indulged yet, and if so, what do you think?
