Yesterday I heard two separate DJs on the radio mispronouncing The Adjustment Bureau.
One went for "Bluro" while the other just gave up and said "Burer - oh help me someone."
It is a hell of a word to pronounce isn't it? Any kind of Frenchified words are always a bit of a tangle twister and god knows there are tons of words I can't get my tongue around. I've just read The Ape House (v good by the way) and only when I was finished (having discussed it at length with many people) did someone point out that I'd been mispronouncing the word Bonobos as though they were all in U2.

Added to that are the words that I deliberately mispronounce - like h'ors douvres which I always pronounce as hors doors and faux pas which will always be fox paw. Old jokes that have just stuck and that I tend to say automatically now. Which is fine when people know that I'm doing it ironically - but when people don't know me they think I just don't know how to pronounce properly.
What words get you every time? C'mon we know you mispronounce something!
