Benefit Instant Eye Gel - Puff Off!

Benefit Instant Eye Gel - Puff Off!

There's something about Benefit that's just well, fun. Their witty packaging is a big crowd drawer, but it's not the outside that keeps us coming back for more.

Cult products like The Porefessional and the High Beam are staples in the makeup mála of many's the gal and now Benefit have a new possible hero product.

Puff Off! is an eye gel that aims to combat puffiness. We're used to dabbing and tapping on eye cream, but a lightbulb must have gone off over a Benefit honcho's head when they were catching up with their domestic duties because they have added an applicator at the top of the eye gel tube to literally iron out puffs and creases.

Simple idea, right? Surely someone must have thought of that before! Or, is it just another gimmick? We had to put it to the test.

The gel can be used under or over makeup and I tried it over my three layers of concealer today because I forgot it was in my bag when I could have used it before applying my makeup this morning. It's hard to tell the difference in before and after pics because it's pretty subtle but I have to say the skin under my left eye does look slightly smoother and less creased than my un-Puff Off!-ed right eye area. That said, with these kinds of products you have to wait about a week to notice a real difference (if any.)

The iron applicator is a little gimmicky but I liked it. I automatically smooth rather than a tap when it comes to eye creams and gels so using this felt natural to me. I've squeezed out way to much gel in the picture below - you only need a tiny amount - but you can see the light, iridescent texture and colour.

If it really does smooth out lines and creases and deflates puffiness that would be great, but for a first go the highlighter element works well and it feels lovely. It's like putting a highlighter and primer on that area and I am loving that it glides on well over make-up without dragging it off.

Puff Off! hits Benefit counters on January 31st and will cost €30.50.
