Met Eireann issue nationwide Status Yellow rain warning

This is actually happening every couple of days now. On top of the ice warning for this morning affecting flooding roads, Met Eireann has issued the below Status Yellow warning for rain across the country today.


While the forecasted rainfall of 15-25mm doesn't sound like a lot in comparison to the 50mm forecasted for Storm Frank, it's a huge amount to those living in submerged parts of the country, who've been battling to save their homes around the clock for the last month.

Meanwhile, the RSA have released this following statement regarding icy roads this morning: "The most important thing you've got to do is remove the most important ingredient in causing skids on ice, and that is the speed of your vehicle. It really is important to slow down and not to panic if you do find yourself in a situation where you are skidding on ice. The car will tend to find its grip, but one of the most important things you've got to do is check to see what kind of safety assist features your car has."
