Yellow Status Warning in Place for Munster & Leinster

You may have noticed - particularly if you're in Dublin, Carlow, Wicklow, Kilkenny, Wexford, Kildare, Tipp and the surrounding areas - that it's a bit dark out.

That's because Met Eireann has issued a Yellow Status warning for rainfall today. With it, we can expect localised flooding and, with temperatures set to drop as the day progresses, the rain is going to turn to sleet.

The alert is in place until 9pm tonight, with 25-35mm of rain due to fall in the aforementioned regions. 40mm is expected to fall along portins of the south coast.

As for tomorrow, well, things aren't looking too much better. A Met Eireann forecaster had this to say: "Friday night will be wet and windy with heavy rain in all areas along with strong to gale force southerly winds and severe gusts in places. The winds will ease somewhat overnight. Lowest temperatures of 5 to 10 degrees."

According to The Irish Mirror: "November was one of the warmest on record, despite the torrential downpours and galeforce winds... it was the wettest November for nearly six years. The heaviest rainfall fell mainly on November 8 and 14, with the month’s wettest day recorded at Newport, Co Mayo on the 14 with 66.2 mm. That was the county’s wettest days since 1968."

The forecasted sleet will be a welcomed break, so. #Festive.
