The Six Best Hallowe'en Movies With A Female Lead

The Six Best Hallowe'en Movies With A Female Lead
By Beaut.ie  | Oct 16, 2015

As we near Hallowe'en, no doubt we're all going to be settling in with a good film that's bound to scare the absolute bejaysus out of you. So, with that in mind, we've come up with six horror movies with a female lead to get you in the Hallowe'en mood.

Take a look!

6. THE CRAFT

Obviously, The Craft is going to feature in this. How could it not? It oozes '90s cool and who didn't want to be a witches' coven afterwards? Top that off with a fantastic grunge soundtrack and you've got a recipe for the perfect schlock-horror thriller. Also, that Glamour Spell thing is so handy. Light as a feather, stiff as a board, light as a feather, stiff as a board, light as a feather, stiff as a board.

5. CORPSE BRIDE

If you loved The Nightmare Before Christmas, you'll know and love macabre musical Corpse Bride. Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham-Carter (who else?) play a quirky couple who are married under false circumstances when Depp's character mistakenly marries a buried woman - who magically comes back to life when the ring is placed on her finger.

4. THE WITCHES OF EASTWICK

Cher, Michelle Pfeiffer and Susan Sarandon as a coven of witches. Jack Nicholson as The Devil himself. And he's trying to score the three of them. How could you not love this? Directed by George Miller, who recently did Mad Max: Fury Road, The Witches of Eastwick is a camp, over-the-top romp with Nicholson his wolfish self.

3. THE LOST BOYS

Keifer Sutherland, Jason Patric, ER's Jami Gertz and Corey Haim star in the quintessential teen vampire flick that doesn't feature Robert Pattinson's crystal abs or Kristen Stewart chewing on her top lip. A single mother moves to California with her two teenage sons. As the boys struggle to fit in, one of them falls in love with a half-vampire who's also dating Kiefer Sutherland. Yeah, it's all silly and there's a greased-up saxophonist, but dammit if The Lost Boys isn't good fun.

2. THE WITCHES

We're actually convinced that Anjelica Huston really IS a witch. Think about it - she was pitch-perfect in The Addams Family as Morticia Addams, proving that black really is the new black. She was in a long-term relationship with Jack Nicholson, who we're also convinced is the Devil because of previous entry The Witches of Eastwick and she basically hasn't aged. Also, The Witches is one of those 'Way Too Scary For Children' movies that everyone watched when they were younger.

1. HOCUS POCUS

You cannot have a Hallowe'en without a screening of Hocus Pocus. It's that simple. Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kathy Najimy and their costumes have become the template for witches costumes for years to come. Also, Thora Birch as the annoying little kid and the Black Candle thing that couldn't be lit. Sweet, sweet nostalgia.

What's your Halloween film fave?
