Matching or coordinating finger and toe nails: Could you be arsed?

matching lips and tips

The US website of InStyle magazine ran a piece last week that I read with great interest. Called "Cute Nail Polish Combos For Fingers And Toes", the article proposed eight summer-appropriate polish pairings to ensure your mani and pedi look perfectly coordinated all season long.

I really liked some of the suggestions, like an understated nude or beige polish on fingers and a wild purple neon or hot orange on toes, but I ultimately came away from the piece feeling like a bit of a slob with my mismatched paint jobs.

At the time, I was wearing a red creme (Essie Wife Goes On) on my hands and a glitterfest of blue and metallic green on my feet (Deborah Lippmann Across The Universe.) While both are absolutely gorgeous polishes in their own right, a critical assessment of the pair of them side by side revealed that they didn't exactly go together. Call me crazy, but given that my fingers and toes rarely make public appearances in tandem, I usually choose polishes that suit them individually and that I love rather than thinking about how they'll look together and trying to coordinate them.

As for matching tips and toes, well, that's a little too much like hard work when you like to switch up your nail colour every other day.

What do you reckon? Could you be arsed to ensure that the paint jobs on your fingers and toes look good together?
