What's the makeup so waterproof even Olympic synchronised swimmers wear it?

Along with wanting to be a ballerina and a gymnast when I was a young 'un, I fancied giving acrobatics of the pool a go. However, while I had the swimming togs, swim cap and nose clip, I lacked the courage to put my head underwater so that was the end of that. Also, no one taught synchonised swimming in my small town in The West.

Still, synchronised swimming is one of the most entertaining sports to watch (and one of the only sports I bother to watch). The skill and talent is incredible, and the synchronicity is out-of-this-world fantastic. But every good show requires a good costume, and no costume is complete without good makeup, but how on earth do synchronised swimmers emerge from the water with still perfectly painted faces?

They use the waterproof products from Make Up For Ever and MAC.

In an interview with Vogue, US swimmers Anita Alvarez and Mariya Koroleva explained, "There's a liquid called Aqua Seal that you can add to any eyeshadow, and it'll make it waterproof. We use it with MAC eyeshadows, which have great colours."

Team GB swimmers obviously agree.

If it's good enough for swimming in front of millions, it's good enough for me when I go on my holiers later this month. And for those days when it's so misty and rainy, even a balaclava can't save your face from moisture.

What makeup do you swear by to keep smears and smudges at bay?
