Winter Skin Savers: Caci Amnio Peptide Complex

caci amino peptide serum

I've been using Caci Amino Peptide Complex, €57, on and off for a couple of months now, so I feel like it's time it got a bit of a mention on the blog. I don't know much about this company barring the fact that this is the first product from a UK skin clinic, and that it, plus companion facial treatments, are available in Ireland in salons nationwide.

Lots of guff abounds in the press release about 'miracle this' and 'Botox in a bottle' that, I honestly and sincerely wish brands would quit it with this absolute tosh. Rubbish, is what it is. Hyperbole-filled rubbish, at that.  Nothing can give the effect of Botox except, er, Botox. And as for miracle? Ah here, we're talking about a skincare product, not the second coming of Christ.

It's little wonder then that women can feel so let down by beauty products - specifically skincare - if these are the frankly nonsense claims we're buying into.

So what does this have to offer someone who might be looking for a little more from their skincare?

Firstly not a new face, so don't be expecting one. DO expect decent ingredients and some holding-back-the-years capabilities, mostly thanks to those ingredients. It makes sense: if your skin gets what it needs, it will look plumper and therefore, less dehydrated and lined.

Caci Amino Peptide Complex contains peptides (the clue's in the name, eh?) in the form of a patented ingredient called Snap 8 - the Dr LeWinns range uses this too. There are also amino acids and essential oils and this is a light, lemony-scented emulsion for use as a first step before your moisturiser in the morning - and in the evening too if you want.

I like this. It is very nice to use, it's non-sticky, absorbs well and seems to get on very well with whatever I pair it with - at night since it's been so bladdy baltic, I've been adding it before my facial oil, and in the morning under the concrete-style cream I'm currently layering on masonry-style. It behaves well with both and has not led to Face Cheese or congestion or any extra nasty skin thing I could really rather do without.

I can't say that my skin looks younger. It doesn't. I can say that my skin has not gone bananas and turned me into a dessicated Mummy-style person, which is what normally happens in this sort of cold. So I reckon this is a great add-on, and I am a fan of peptides anyway - my skin just seems to like and respond well to them as an ingredient.  I haven't noticed an increase in the fine lines around my eyes, and they are my absolute barometer for when something's not doing the trick for me. So skin is on an even keel - and in this mad weather, that's a result for me.

So, I think this is suitable as an extra nourishing kick for those with dry or dehydrated skin, for those 30+ or for anyone who likes their daily moisturiser and doesn't want to change - but who could do with another step to really keep wrinkles in check before they begin to carve grooves in their face.
