Cathyfly on the Apprentice and Long Wear Makeup

the apprentice

Not content with organising beaut.ieful brunches, Cathyfly's been making witty observations on our current telly obsession, the Irish Apprentice, over the past 11 weeks.  She's now turned her head to the thorny issue of long-wear products. Take it away, missis...

Watching the other night as De Oirish Apprentice candidates were whittled down to the final two, I couldn't help think that the majority of those who lasted to the semi-final were there not because of their dubious 'skillsets' but rather due to a combination of luck and mostly, sheer staying power.

There was Stuart's sweaty self belief (did he REALLY get those business cards printed?), Brenda's calm determination, Nicky's puppyish willingness, and Orla - well actually the most resilient thing about Orla was her apparent liberal use of Sally Hansen Airbrush leg spray as foundation.

Which got me thinking about staying power of another kind. I've noticed recently that some of my favourite beauty products don't actually last that long! I'm an 'instant gratification' kinda gal, and tend to buy products based on how they look when I try them out, rather than how long they're going to last.

I need a primer before and a powder compact afterwards just to keep my beloved Armani Luminous Silk on for more than a few hours, and I've yet to find a lip gloss that lasts beyond my first drink!

How about you? Ever spent a small fortune on a product, only to be left disappointed when it vanished quicker than Joanna's electrocuted grin when she got busted in Week 7?

What are your 'Warrior' products?

And which ones deserve to get the finger and be Foired from our makeup bags?
