As one member of Team Beaut pointed out, he may have meant it's the first time he's washed his hair in that long, in that, he may have had it washed by a pro over the past few years.

Not washing one's hair is not the most unusual thing in the world. The 'No Poo' movement has been going for a while, and apparently, once your hair starts to clean itself, it's not the stinkfest you'd imagine.
Still, though. He gets it cut quite regularly and it looks like he applies a bit of product so maybe our theory on someone else washing it is actually fact?
