Ellis Faas Skin Veil Foundation Review

Ellis Faas Skin Veil Foundation Review

Foundation has to be one of the hardest things to get right when it comes to makeup. You want a shade that matches your skintone perfectly, in a formula that is easy to work with and it must even out your complexion and hide imperfections - all while looking as though there's nothing on your skin at all.

And because it's this tricky to find a really good one, I can just about handle the price of Ellis Faas Skin Veil, €65, knowing it ticks all those boxes. Originally available only in clicky pen form, a pump bottle version has recently been added to the line, and it's this version that I purchased.

There are eight shades in the line and the lightest (S101) is perfect for my skin. I have very pale skin, but also a good sprinkling of freckles, so where the lightest shade in many foundations can look kind of ghostly on, the next shade up often looks too muddy. The lightest Ellis Faas shade, however, blends in seamlessly and matches my skintone perfectly, looking extremely natural on.

Skin Veil is very easy to apply too. I use a duo-fibre brush to buff it on when I have the time, but I've also slapped it on with my fingers and it blends perfectly, with no streaks. Applying it with fingers does mean I need to use a bit more than with the brush, so considering the price of a bottle, I'm probably more likely to use a brush, which means I need only half a pump per application.

This is a great foundation for dry skins - it feels hydrating on and doesn't start to dry out and look powdery after a few hours, but it may not do as well on combination or oily skintypes. It's packed with silicones which give it all that slip for easy application, but despite my fears, it doesn't seem to be causing any congestion for me and my skin looks dewy and natural without that awful shine some hydrating foundations can create.

All in all, this is definitely a keeper for me and one worth trying out if you have a similar skintype.
