"All my eye makeup experiments become a smoky eye": Mindy Kaling rocks the Mindy Project

Now that 30 Rock is over and Parks and Recreation is between seasons, my new favourite comedic actress is most definitely Mindy Kaling. I just can’t get enough of her right now. You might know her as Kelly Kapoor from the American version of The Office, but now she writes, produces and stars in her own sitcom, The Mindy Project. Go Mindy!

Her unapologetic love of romantic comedies is something that she shares with her character on the show and yet she manages to send up the clichés of the genre in a clever and truly funny way.

While TV Mindy has hilarious lines like "I fell asleep watching Amelie, and when I woke up, I had spilt so much red wine on me that I thought I'd been shot", real life Mindy seems like she’d be amazing craic to hang out with.

She writes fantastic articles, like this one that outlines her affection for romcoms, before going on to brilliantly slam the different stereotypes of the female lead characters. She’s obsessed with Jaime Lannister and loves Game of Thrones so much that HBO sent her a personalised box set. She writes an excellent fashion blog (it hasn’t been updated in about a year or so, but it’s still great!), wrote a bestselling book and is a hoot and a half on Twitter.

Basically, this is Anna Kendrick all over again and I want to be friends with Mindy. As well as all that, I just think she’s absolutely gorgeous and has killer style to boot. I love that she wears the hell out of so many bright colours and I usually end up wanting everything that she wears on her show when I’m watching an episode, as she has perfected the art of cute dresses and cardigans.

It’s always great to see a woman create, write and star in a tv show, and it’s particularly great that Mindy is a regular-sized woman and also kicking ass all over the place.

Are you a Mindy fan? And have you been watching The Mindy Project? What do you think of it?
